Rebound of hiring confidence in the tech sector – survey

Ireland’s tech sector expects a resurgence in hiring confidence following consecutive quarters of stagnant recruitment, according to the latest Manpower Group Employment Outlook Survey.

The study shows that hiring optimism in the sector has reached its highest level since the post-pandemic hiring boom.

Despite this, hiring at volume is expected to remain subdued, with high-skilled roles like AI specialists, data engineers, cloud architects, cybersecurity specialists, and developers driving tech sector hiring.

The ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey is based on responses from 419 employers across Ireland who were asked if they intend to hire additional workers or reduce the size of their workforce in the coming quarter.

“Following a period of redundancies and hiring freezes made in response to economic turbulence and post-pandemic over-hiring, the tech sector is now looking to the future with a sense of cautious optimism,” Jonny Edgar, Managing Director at ManpowerGroup Ireland, said.

“Businesses have restructured with sustainable headcounts, and mounting confidence in the growing economy together with a surge in demand for specialist tech skills is fuelling positive hiring plans,” Mr Edgar said.

The Government, public service and education sector reported the highest net employment outlook of any sector.

The transport, logistics and automotive sector also reported strong hiring confidence followed by the industrials and materials sector.

Regionally, Munster had the highest net employment outlook, followed by Dublin, Connacht, Ulster (Cavan, Donegal, and Monaghan), and Leinster.
