Revenue has told accountants and self-assessed taxpayers that it has fixed problems with its online tax return form that were creating difficulties for those filing, but that it will be another week before others are resolved.
Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI) has told members that Revenue has notified it that an issue regarding the 3% USC surcharge on income over €100,000 on the Form 11 for last year in Revenue’s Online System (ROS) has been resolved.
A number of other minor enhancements have also been made, CAI said it was told by the tax collector.
However, other issues remain to be fixed, it is understood.
These include problems with Deposit Interest Retention Tax on UK deposit interest and pre-population of certain payments received from the Department of Social Protection.
CAI told members that a system release is due on July 29th which it is hoped will resolve these problems.
The organisation also said that Revenue has confirmed that returns filed that have been impacted by these issues will be reviewed by Revenue, rather than the taxpayer or their agent having to revisit each return to make amendments.
The difficulties have been ongoing for several weeks, prompting concerns among accountants that filings already made may have inadvertently been incorrect.
The issues were also holding up their work, they claimed.
